The elegance of horseback riding and the challenge of competitive show jumping attract hundreds of thousands of enthusiasts each year. The sport, however, is difficult to master. Greg Best, former Olympian and seasoned Grand Prix veteran, has begun planning production for a series of instructional video tapes designed to improve the skills of riders of all ages and riding levels.
Greg Best is the consummate professional rider and instructor. He began riding as a child, and rose in the competitive jumping world at a meteoric rate. He joined Frank Chapot in 1980, and began riding Gem Twist. Greg and Gem Twist developed into an incomparable team, winning numerous Grand Prix's and medals for the United States in the Pan American Games and as a member of several Nations Cup teams. Greg represented the United States in the Olympic Games in Seoul, Korea in 1988, and came home with individual and team silver medals.
Greg continued to compete and win at the highest levels of show jumping until an injury in September 1992 prevented him from riding and competing for more than 6 months. During his recovery he decided to open his own boarding/training facility. In May 1993, Greg Best Stables, a 60-stall facility, opened in Wellington, Florida, home of the Winter Equestrian Festival. Recently, Greg has been riding, training and investing in new horses in New Zealand. His advice and instruction are in constant demand. He travels the world conducting instructional clinics. Over the past several years he has presented clinics throughout the U.S., Hawaii, Asia, South Pacific, Europe, and South America. In fact, his 1995-1996 clinic schedule included programs in Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Columbia, Germany, Florida, Georgia, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Virginia! Greg has written a widely-read monthly column, "The Best Advice," in Horseplay magazine.
